Claudette Busschau and Kerry Clack have been working with Dr. Barrow at Morningside since 2009.
They are an incredible team and play a crucial role in all aspects of patient rehabilitation.
They perform an assessment on the day of surgery to determine the best discharge venue and discuss outcome goals with each patient. In hospital, they start range of movement exercises, and guide transfers on / off the bed, toilet and chair. They teach patients to walk safely with the appropriate walking-aid; thus ensuring the patients’ confidence to cope upon discharge.
Out of hospital, Claudette and Kerry review and guide the patients’ rehabilitation with Dr Barrow’s consultations at 2 and 6 weeks post-surgery. A Physiotherapy-only consultation is offered at 4 weeks with the aims to wean walking-aids altogether; regain flexibility as well as strength and balance of the operated joint.
Their expertise ensures a smooth recovery process and helps patients regain mobility and confidence.
